Round 6 of 2006 Wrangler NFR competition included a record-breaking barrel racing run by Kelly Maben. The previous arena record of 13.63 was set by Tammy Key in 2002. The inspiration continued in the bull riding event where bull rider Dustin Elliott rode to honor his friend and traveling partner Shane Dury, who passed away October 31st after a four-year battle with cancer and was posthumously honored at the Wrangler NFR's Memorial Night. Dustin posted a 88.5-point ride Southwick, Robertson and Wilson Company's Foolish Man to win the Go-Round. Dustin also had someone else on his mind, his grandfather, who was recently admitted to a Las Vegas hospital with internal bleeding. Dustin: "Last year, my grandma had a brain aneurysm and had to have brain surgery while she was in Vegas. Well, this year, grandpa has something internally and is bleeding inside, so he's been in the hospital. He's getting out soon, but we'll be off soon to visit him." Only four more rounds to go. We'll be watching tomorrow.
