2006 World Championship Dummy Roping For Kids

Wrangler is proud to be the presenting sponsor for the annual World Championship Dummy Roping For Kids event that occurs during the last three days of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo 10-day event. Kids compete in three age brackets -- children 5 years and under, 6-8 years old, and 9-11 years old.

Top pro rodeo roping talent, WNFR competitors and world champion team ropers volunteer their time to judge the event. The Age 5 and Under event was judged by 7-time world champion Clay O Brien Cooper, 8-time world champion Rich Skelton, Shannon Frascht.

KDR logoThe kids move through elimination rounds as the demonstrate their roping talent. The winners receive a trophy saddle, roping supplies and Wrangler apparel.

The 5 and Under bracket competed on December 8, 2006. 4-year old Jesse Goldtooth of Mesquite, Nevada and Caxton Martin, a 5-year old from Alma Kansas, won the Girls contest.

Britt Smith repeated his win in the Boys competition; the 5-year-old from Broken Bow, Oklahoma, won last year's competition. 5-year-old Carson Johnson of Casper, Wyoming, 5-year-old Blake Barnes of Dekalb, Texas, and 5-year-old Chet Weitz of London, Texas, also were recognized in the 2006 5 and Under Boys competition.

Trophy Buckaroo Saddles went to 3-year-old Dillon Ishman of Phelan, California, and 3-year-old Garrett Stanley of Victorville, California.

Smiles and sportsmanship characterized the competition. The event continues Saturday December 9th, with competitors 6-8 years old and 9-11 years old. Host hotel is The Orleans.  A nice property that provided the kids with a room  and a live feed of the WNFR. The event itself is held on the Country Christmas Stage at the Sands Expo Center.
